Fourth year pie celebration with the Voiaki

For the 4th consecutive year, the “Mylos Rodias” Mills of Grevena collaborated with the Voïaki Estia and its excellent president, Mr. Giorgos Papadopoulos, for the Pie Festival.

The pie dough was rolled out by Polyxeni Preveza, daughter of a third-generation miller, always with the aim of preserving and spreading our tradition!

The success of this event was complemented by the skilled women of Voio, who prepared all kinds of pies: cheese pie, leek pie, leek and cheese pie, “pityropita,” sweet and savory pumpkin pie, spinach pie, cornmeal pie, spinach and cheese pie, nettle pie, and trachana pie, made with sourdough.

We would like to thank Maria Chatzikonstantinou, Stavroula Gotsamani, Konstantina Avlogiari, Eleni Moustakli, Margarita Lafazanidou, Chrysoula Mita, Giorgos Papaparaschou, Christina Papadopoulou, Anastasia Gkini, and Theodora Papadopoulou.

The speaker at the event was Deputy Mayor Theodora Leipsistinou, philologist and author, an accomplished woman from Voio, who described to us the dietary habits and traditions of our region!

At this event, we also had the opportunity to taste delicious cheeses like yellow cheeses, feta, and goat cheese from Tousia Dairy, as well as many different, equally delicious jams by chef Giorgos Karavangelas from Velventos. We combined them with each other and with handmade bread made using our whole-wheat and all-purpose flour.

The event was honored by the presence of the Member of Parliament for Thessaloniki A’ and lawyer Ms. Anna Efthymiou, the President of the Federation of Western Macedonia Mr. Athanasios Michailidis, the candidate for MP for Thessaloniki A’ and lawyer Ms. Afroditi Nestora, the President of the Macedonian Philanthropic Educational Brotherhood Mr. Nikolaos Valkanos, and the President of the Pan-Cretan Association Mr. Petros Petrakakis.
